Spring 2005

Boise Art Museum's Triennial juried exhibition of Idaho artists has been a sight to behold in Boise. Over 200 artists from around the state entered the competition and 30 were selected. To highlight some of them we have chosen artists from around the state to profile on Idaho Arts Quarterly covers over the next year. For the 2004 Winter issue we profiled Geoff Krueger's house paintings. This issue we take a look at Virginia DeFoggi's work. For the Summer and Fall issues, as the Triennial exhibition moves around the state, we will showcase artists from those regions. I won't tell you who we have chosen now. You'll have to wait and see. You might notice a slight change this issue. Whereas we have formerly organized the content by artistic genre (visual, performing, literary, etc.) we have, beginning with this issue, organized it via geographical region. Within each of the four sections of the state, we have brought together a story, a regional report on the arts and event listings. We encourage more participation from all parts of the state and as Idaho Arts Quarterly grows in size and circulation, we will be able to have comprehensive statewide coverage. Writers, artists, performance artists and arts venues can request copies of our magazine to be distributed at their favorite locations, and we'll be happy to do so.
