McCall city officials remain tight-lipped over the sudden departure of the man who managed the city's largest department.

The McCall Star-News reports Peter Borner, McCall's public works director, left his job May 26—the same day McCall City Council held a closed-door session to "discuss an unspecified personnel issue." Council members would only confirm they voted to "make permanent the temporary removal of the individual discussed during the executive session." McCall Mayor Jackie Aymon and McCall City Manager Nate Coyle later confirmed Borner no longer worked for the city.

The Star-News reports Borner, who was a city employee since 2010, managed a department of 21 employees and oversaw a budget of approximately $7.5 million. His salary was more than $84,000. In May 2013, Borner and his wife were seriously injured in a car accident. Each suffered multiple cracked ribs and fractured vertebrae.
