Re: “Boise Police After Shooting Dog: 'Officers Never Want to Harm an Animal'

Sounds like another example in a long list of police brutality, conduct unbecoming an alleged "peace" officer or behavior that is above and beyond the call of duty--take your pick. I'm neither big, bad, burly nor armed to the teeth with the latest technology to render some threat to my existence unconscientious (spelling pun intentional). But with not much more than a wave of my arm, prevent 99.9% of domesticated dogs incapable of doing me any harm. The other .1% that are trained to attack would require a bit more skill. Even though I am a bit out of shape, this small contingent would be little problem. Their owners/trainers are another matter. I have no desire to harm anyone, let alone snuff out the existence of some common canine companion protecting its puppies. If I were the Judge, this would be my recommendation. I hereby sentence the entire police infrastructure to at least 90 days (or 12 episodes) of watching the "Dog Whisperer". After which, each officer be given an opportunity to practice dealing effectively with "man's best friend". Please forgive me if you think this is asking too much of how to spend some of my tax dollars, it would seem their marksmanship skills are already sufficient.
