Scores of "best of," "worst of," and "Top 10" lists flood our inbox each day, but the latest survey from Offers.com might have more than a few Idahoans slack-jawed.

According to the survey of football fans across the nation, "Idaho beat out every other state in the country when it comes to drinking at tailgates, with 42 percent of Idaho consumers saying they will drink nine or more alcohol drinks, per tailgate, this season."

Offers.com said it surveyed over 1,000 football fans across the U.S. Beer was the tailgating beverage of choice among Idahoans, who added that their favorite tailgating foods were hot dogs and tacos.

Boise State University security and Boise State Police enforce what they call a "zero tolerance policy" on alcohol abuse, inappropriate behavior and underage drinking. According to the university's official Fan Guide, "Drinking games, excessive drinking, disorderly conduct and uncivil behavior towards others, including fans of the opposing team, are not acceptable."

And according to the Bronco Athletic Association, "At its discretion, the University may terminate tailgate parties or take other appropriate action against individuals, groups, or organizations whose conduct is irresponsible, unreasonable or inconsistent with Boise State University, City of Boise and/or State of Idaho policies and regulations, ordinances or laws."

Here's a snapshot of some of the states in the survey, which indicated that, among those Idahoans asked, the average answer of nine beers per tailgate dwarfed any other state.
