Taking Responsibility

There's lots of talk these days about the Treasure Valley's deteriorating air quality, and while people look for answers, more fingers are being pointed at Canyon County, where there is no vehicle emissions testing.

Turns out the Nampa Chamber of Commerce agrees.

The chamber identified legislative approval of the Treasure Valley Air Quality Council regional recommendations testing as one of its 2008 legislative goals. These recommendations include; public education, vehicle emissions testing, vapor recovery systems at gas stations, uniform air quality ordinances, integrated land-use planning, as well as coordinated transportation planning.

The lack of any emissions testing in Canyon County has long been a bone of contention in the valley, with many Ada County residents and officials arguing that bad air doesn't stop at the county line.
