Tennis, Jan. 4, Neurolux

Not the game.

Indie darlings Tennis are indeed that: darlings. Singer Alaina Moore's voice is still as sweet as a croquembouche as she delivers "Mean Streets," off the band's latest EP release, Small Sound, (November 2013, Communion Records), which would have been a perfect summertime song--and not only because the first word in the song is "summer." There's a groovy edge to the tune as Moore sings over little more than drum and cymbals, the space between the verses punctuated by chill key and guitar chords. It's hard to imagine this band on a street that is anything other than nice. Tennis, anyone?
