The Pirkqlaters

These guys definitely pump the punk back into their ska, metal and pop punk band-making themselves known with their quirky stage presence, dynamic vocals and horn accompaniment. Formed in 1999, the Pirks have been playing in Boise for six years and finished a five-state northwestern tour last December only to again be on the road currently in a follow-up tour. Despite the extensive time away from a studio, these guys somehow found time to record their third full length album to be released this spring.

The power of the Pirks live has afforded them the opp to share the stage with the likes of Grammy award winning artist Ozomatli, Fishbone, The Suicide Machines and Papa Roach, among others. Their ability to write songs that cross stylistic boundaries in music make the Pirkqlaters an enjoyable experience for a wide range of folks. According to their Web site, "Even those who don't necessarily like ska find something they love about this band." So take our BW tip, and check out Boise's Pirkqlaters this Cinco de Mayo at Reef.
