Three Bad Accidents, Three Fatalities This Weekend on Treasure Valley Roadways

This has been a particularly deadly weekend on Treasure Valley roadways.

A 3-year-old girl died late Saturday afternoon when she was struck by a pickup truck pulling out of a driveway in a southeast Boise neighborhood. Investigators said the girl was running alongside the vehicle on the 9500 block of Littlewood Drive, but the driver didn't see the child when she was struck.  The driver immediately called 911 and paramedics rushed to the scene, but the child died at a local hospital a short time later.

Another pedestrian was struck and killed on the westbound lane of Interstate 84 in Meridian on Friday, Dec. 14. Idaho State Police said a motorist struck the pedestrian who was trying to cross the from the interstate's median to the right shoulder. Following the accident, the westbound lanes of of I84 were blocked for nearly two hours. The pedestrian, 44 year-old Michele Stevenson of Boise, died of her injuries a short time later.

In Caldwell, a woman died early Saturday morning when she was ejected from her vehicle after striking a telephone pole. Idaho State Police said a 2007 Mazda driven by 21-year-old Adrianna Valdez, was travelling northbound on Robinson Road near Nampa when it drifted  off the left shoulder of the road and crashed into the telephone pole. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt. She died at the scene.
