Boise Police had the grim task Monday afternon of informing the public that a 3-year-old girl has died of injuries suffered in a June 30 stabbing attack that included eight other victims.

"It is with deep sorrow we share the news that she has passed away today," said Boise Police Chief Bill Bones, in a prepared statement. "We will not be releasing her name until additional notifications have been made."

In total, nine people were attacked, including six children, in the horrific incident at a Wylie Street apartment complex. Thirty-year-old Timmy Kinner of Los Angeles has been charged with nine felony counts of aggravated battery and six felony counts of injury to a child. Kinner had been staying at the apartment complex until June 29, when he was asked to leave. But police said Kinner returned to the complex the following evening with a knife. Witnesses said Kinner began attacking the children who had been celebrating a birthday. Three adults, who tried to intervene, were also stabbed.

Seven of the eight remaining victims are still hospitalized with serious or critical injuries. One child has been treated and released from the hospital. All nine of the victims were refugees who had fled violence Ethiopia, Iraq and Syria before being resettled to Boise.

Police said charges against Kinner may be amended in the wake of the child's death.

Boise Police are asking for the public's help. Anyone who has had contact with Kinner in  recent weeks is being urged to call Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.

Meanwhile, the International Rescue Commitee has scheduled a candlelight vigil for all refugee families on the steps of Boise City Hall this evening at 6 p.m.
