At the start of Storyfort's The Scene panel on Thursday, March 24, the crowd at the Linen Building sat or stood a few rows of seats from the panelists.

"Does anyone want to move up, like at a real rock and roll show?" Ned Evett asked.

After the front rows filled up, Evett and his fellow panelists—drummer Mike Rundle, Steve Smart (The Swiveltones), Ross Miller (The Fabulous Chancellors) and Gina Gregerson (Lovey, Dirt Fishermen)—shared memories from almost 60 years of rock music in Boise.

Highlights of the discussion included Evett's story of his old band, Deep Down Trauma Hounds, opening for Sir Mix-A-Lot in the early 1990s.

"That was the first and only time I'd ever seen $30,000 in a briefcase," he said.

Gregerson remembered seeing Nirvana play Boise before the band hit it big.

"I thought they were the worst band I'd ever seen," she admitted.

Miller recalled playing a venue in the 1960s, where future Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter worked as a bouncer.

"Butch pushed a lot of people down those stairs," he said.
