The reward for a tip leading to the arrest of 23-year-old Boise man Gerald C. Lightfoot was up to $1,000. Lightfoot beat everyone out of a chance to claim the reward when at around 5 p.m. on Oct. 10, he walked into the Ada County Jail and surrendered himself—although he probably won't be enjoying the reward.

Police asked the public to keep an eye out for Lightfoot on Oct. 6 after he committed a probation violation. According to a news release from the Boise Police Department, officers also suspected Lightfoot of having information on several recent burglaries.

When the request for help first went out, officers received a tip Lightfoot was roaming the Bench area around Albion and South Roosevelt streets on Oct. 6, possibly armed and acting unpredictably. Officers searched the area but didn't find him, believing he fled on foot before they arrived. Five schools on the Bench were asked to shelter-in-place for about an hour.

The search ended when Lightfoot self-surrendered. He faces a felony charge for probation violation.
