The heat is on in the Treasure Valley, and it keeps on coming.

The National Weather Service office in Boise has issued an excessive heat watch for the entire day this Tuesday, July 31, with triple digit highs expected to climb to somewhere between 101 and 105 degrees. The record high in Boise for July 31 was 106 degrees, set in 1992.

An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperature is expected, triggering possible heat-related illnesses. Everyone is urged to drink plenty of fluids and, if at all possible, stay out of the sun and in an air-conditioned or cool room.  Equally important is a reminder to check on relatives and neighbors, and to be vigilant about not leaving children or pets unattended in any vehicle.
