Re: “Plans for Whitewater Project in Boise's West End Unveiled

wow, that's incredibly ugly but sparse and uninspired architecture has been the trend in Boise for quite awhile now.

Re: “F-35s in Boise? 'We Don't Know What We Don't Know'

Re Mr. Journee's remarks, it is Gowen Strong, the City of Boise, and the State that has used the economic study about the A-10s to tout the potential benefits of bringing the F-35 to Boise. See, for example, Megan Ronk's op-ed in the Idaho Statesman: http://www.idahostatesman.com/opinion/readers-opinion/article131132189.html. Costs--i.e., potential negative impacts--are not considered in these estimates.

Further, in 2012, the Air Force did conduct a socioeconomic impact analysis of the F-35 in Boise (albeit for a different proposal) and that study also did not consider any costs.

It is indeed incredibly misleading to use an analysis of economic benefits (only) to tout the potential impact of the F-35 in Boise.

If you think Citizens for a Livable Boise is a small group of trouble makers, check out the link below that will take you to a recent petition signed by over 1,500 citizens that includes 99 pages of comments. Would be surprised if the wisdom of this group should be dismissed, denied and demeaned. Time will tell. Tick, tock, tick, tock...

Re: “F-35s in Boise? 'We Don't Know What We Don't Know'

The F-35 venture began in the 1990s under Bill Clinton as a Military Industrial capital expedition that was designed to capture a 50 state commitment from Congressional and local leaders to secure a massive expenditure for investors gain. The project was designed to be a money pit for profit. Genuine aerospace experts have been fighting this boondoggle for years and years. It's meant to make money, not perform. This is much like the F-111 project that ended up flopping as advertised, only the F-35 is a much bigger flop. Recently, the UK Parliament has asked for a review of their participation in this, as are other nations. Also.....this plane is very loud.

Re: “F-35s in Boise? 'We Don't Know What We Don't Know'

This article hits the nail on the head - CLB and these fierce opposition groups do nothing more than shout rhetoric and hyperbole to try and stir up emotional responses in the undecided people. The meetings are nothing short of sit-down mob mentality b.s.

I don't blame the mayor and Guard reps one bit for not attending these meetings, I sure wouldn't if I was in their position. The lies that the groups keep repeating (see both the earlier comments before mine) are ridiculous and all the CLB wants to do is get in a shouting match. They don't want to talk facts, they want to shout down the supporters because they can't get satisfaction from being respectful and responsible, it appears.

Re: “The Little Hours: Sisterhood of the F-Bombs

Typical liberal scum bag film making douche bags. Don't realize the greater part of the world is sick and tired of your MADE UP Alice in wonderland films/stories (If that is what they want to call them). It's nauseating to think that there are certain folks that actually think skits like star wars and sponge bob square pants are real characters in their lives. What a mess............

Re: “F-35s in Boise? 'We Don't Know What We Don't Know'

Here are the facts: Boise City leadership (BCL) has refused to address the public in a open and public format. BCL has offered false facts, obstructed, and outright lied. BCL has been on a campaign with public treasure to convince the public that we should be in favor of F-35's and that we should trust them to do whatever is necessary to bring them to Boise. Get informed. Review articles at http://boiseguardian.com/?s=f-35

Re: “F-35s in Boise? 'We Don't Know What We Don't Know'

I've attended both City and CLB meetings on the issue.
CLB has posted an incredible amount of facts.
The city has not.
What has been consistent is that "City of Boise spokesman Mike Journee" always lies. He's in marketing after all.

Re: “Idaho Power Registered All-Time Peak Record July 7

WE Intermountain Gas !!!!

Thank you for allowing our family to easily chose between paying our gas bill and groceries. We're able to do BOTH, unlike with Idaho Power Company. Like many other customers , I dread receiving my Idaho Power Bill.....and OPENING it. Soo ridiculously out of the " norm", across our country. SAD.

Re: “Idaho Power Registered All-Time Peak Record July 7

Idaho Power is THE MOST GREEDY Utility Company I have EVER DEALT WITH. I am a single professional female, well traveled and I speak from experience. THE IUPC really has "their" sky as their limit to raise our Idaho rates. Intermountain Gas is a NON-GREEDY company that allows us to BUDGET!!! (-;

I think the Boise Rescue Mission is lucky to have someone as intelligent and connected as a former US Representative. I hope they are paying him what he is worth.

Re: “Idaho Environmental Forum Considers Aftermath of Pioneer Wildfire

Wildfire causes lots of damage to the forest. Not only the forest the fire also damages the villages surrounded by the forest. Environmental fire not only affects the tree and animals, but it also affects the home. The Wildfire grows rapidly and causes lots of damage. Wildfire can cause due to various of reasons. So after the damage one should protect their home under home insurance policy. As after the damage one should file a claim with the help of Florida insurance adjuster(http://allclaimsusa.com/) for filing the claim.

Re: “Mail July 12, 2017

Three of the four letters decry the "transfer of wealth" from poor folks to those darned one-percenters... who obviously don't need more wealth. (I'm sure it's just an interesting coincidence, and not that the authors were using some sort of boiler-plate to compose their letters.) But it raises an interesting topic. If poor folks are being given free (to them) health care, and then that free health care is withdrawn or otherwise adversely modified, can it really be called a "transfer of wealth"?

This country is $20,000,000,000,000-plus in debt already. I s'pose if you aren't a taxpayer or money-earner, that's no big deal. But at some point, I can't help but feel the House of Cards will collapse. Who will provide the free health care, post-collapse? (And free college, too, while we're at it?)

Full disclosure - I'm NOT a "one-percenter" - far from it. I'm lower middle class, struggling to keep head above water, pay my taxes, and keep my family insured.

Re: “Dr. Kevin Cahill

But... What are the negative impacts (costs to the community)? They say they exist but failed to provide them. I can't even find a link to the pro-bono work Dr. Cahill did previously. I think it would have been great to share that information.

Re: “Dr. Kevin Cahill

I'm finding a lot of the negative feedback on this proposal, from Boise area citizens, is the noise pollution of the zones they expect the aircraft to fly over. Right now, the loudest military aircraft rarely make stops in Boise and primarily stay around Mtn Home. Currently, there's tolerable noise for those of us who live near'ish to the airport. F-35s are another monster. But that's not all there is to the drawbacks. Political hands are being greased, of course. Probably a kick-back to the City for their cooperation. For me, the big kick in the face with this push is that this aircraft is a money pit, and has been for years. It's still not even probably 80% safe to fly yet. Republicans claim that there's not enough money for a Universal health care system in America, yet they're fine with spending $40B taxpayer dollars on the F-35 program, and countless more funds for the bloated defense budget. Why are we not complaining about this?

Re: “For Rent: Boise's Historic-Low Vacancy Rate Triggers a Flood of New Apartments

I noticed this tidbit.

----Also on Johnson's wall is a framed JPM ledger page, circa 1958, showing rentals ranging from $40 to $45 a month. That's a far cry from what the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department today calls "affordable."----- Then this......----Affordable Rent for a family of four in each of the categories would be $615 (Extremely Low), $804 (Very Low), $1,286 (Low) and $1,929 (Workforce).-----

If you run $45 via a inflation calculator for 1958, you will see it's $381. I'd say that $615 is too much by 2X. End Dollar Devaluation.
