Meatball, ‘alternative comedy queen,’ coming to Treefort
For 2024, Dragfort is celebrating with local and national queens/performers. One, who is making her return to Treefort, is the “alternative comedy queen” from Los Angeles, Meatball. She is best known for hosting “Fat Slut” parties and “having a bad attitude.” Meatball’s love for food can also be seen on the Hulu TV show “Drag Me to Dinner,” where she and her colleague won their featured episode: they created a menu and a party and were judged on food, drink, and designs.
Being a Drag Queen
Meatball has been a drag queen performer for nine years and says her character is an “important power in her” and says she has gained much confidence in the outside world from her drag performances. She says today she is honest and empowering but that wasn’t always the case. “I would have loved myself sooner if I took imperfect, wild, crazy, and being different, not as bad.” This feeling of liberation is featured in both of her Treefort events which, she said, “are going to be sloppy, messy, and a lot of fun.”
Making Food Sexy: ‘All You Can Eat with Meatball’
Meatball expresses her “love of food and history” through her Fat Slut parties – she uses aspects from eras of the 1960s and 70s. For instance, she performs “jello art” and has food in jello from shrimp to a Thanksgiving dinner. This is also a competition and the winner gets a prize. The contestants' challenge includes a different platter of food for each contestant where “you don’t have to eat the food but must be sexy.” Dragfort is bringing this experience with the “All You Can Eat with Meatball” on March 21 with a $200 cash prize.
Podcasting with ‘Sloppy Seconds’
Meatball loves the art of podcasting and releases two episodes a week of her show, “Sloppy Seconds'' with her co-host, rapper and comedian Big Dipper. She and Big Dipper will be podcasting live at Podfort. In the show, they act like “two people who despise each other” and are always “wild.” They are both queer but their experiences differ, which gets the audience to learn from many perspectives – it’s “kinda like sex ed.” It is informative, fun, and most definitely sloppy!
Haciendo que la comida ser sexy: ‘All You Can Eat with Meatball’
